We are a friendly target archery club located in Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex. Close to Spelthorne, Feltham, Richmond and Elmbridge.
We have outdoor shooting facilities that are available every day, except Mondays. We also use an indoor range during the winter, where we shoot on Sunday mornings.
All styles of archery are welcome at the club: Recurve, Longbow, Compound etc. and we have many experienced members who will help archers of all standards to improve from ages 8 to 80+
About Our Club
Spelthorne Archers was formed in 1985 by a group of 60 people from another club looking for a more secure ground.
We shot at Spelthorne Sports Club in Ashford Common for 9 years and moved to our present location in Sunbury in 1994 where we have exclusive use of a shooting range.
At this location we have outdoor shooting facilities that are available every day except Mondays, which allows us to shoot all the distances for both imperial and metric rounds.
We also are fortunate to have use of an indoor range during the winter, where we are able to shoot on Sunday mornings.
We have hosted Regional and County matches and County indoor championships at our venue.
Other local clubs are invited, from time to time, to come and join us for some friendly competition and we also compete in the National and County postal leagues.
Tournaments and awards
Spelthorne Archers are proud to organise several open tournaments throughout the year as well as support our members in entering other AGB tournaments and events.
Portsmouth Open
Our Portsmouth Open is held on Sunday 11th January 2026. You can find the target list and direction on our tournament page.
George Potts Memorial & Double WA720
Our 2026 George Potts Memorial Tournament will be held on Saturday 6 June 2026 as part of our Spelthorne Archers Tournament Weekend.
We will also be hosting a Double WA720 the following day on Sunday 7 June 2026 with World Record Status.

Club Fees
Membership fees are paid annually and due by August 31st. Please be aware a late payment charge is now in operation
Fees must be paid by 31st August after which your membership will cease and you will no longer be allowed to shoot at the club. If you do choose to re-join after the 31st of August, a late re-joining fee of £10.00 will be levied.
Beginners Courses
We offer a choice of courses during the year so you can try archery as a hobby and have the ability to join our club.
Courses are suitable for both juniors from 9 years old and adults, and cost £80pp
Our schedule for 2026 courses is:
- Sat 11 Apr 2pm-5pm (3 weeks)
- Wed 20 May 6pm-8pm (4 weeks)
- Wed 8 Jul 6pm-8pm (4 weeks)
- Sat 15 Aug 2pm-5pm (3 weeks)
Taster Session
If you are unsure if you will enjoy archery, why not come to one of our taster sessions,
These can be arranged for 2 – 4 people (aged 8+) on a date and time that is mutually convenient by arrangement with the club training officer.
These events can take place between April and September at our outdoor range, all equipment is provided.

The entrance is via a BP Lakeside Car Park, opposite the Meadhurst Club (TW16 7LN). The car park is locked, if you are visiting please contact a member who can provide access.
