252 Improvement Award

SPELTHORNE ARCHERS “252” IMPROVEMENT AWARD

The 252 award is designed to help you practice your shooting at different distances and recognise your achievements.

It is an award scheme in use in many archery clubs in the UK and applies to all archers, irrespective of age and ability or bow type.

The objective is to score 252 or over for 3 dozen arrows for recurve archers. See table below for the score to achieve for other bow types.

The Rules:

  • The round is shot on a 122cm face
  • Six sighters are allowed, followed immediately by three dozen scored arrows. (Sighters are only allowed for the first distance shot on a day.)
  • 5-zone scoring (gold = 9, Red = 7, Blue = 5, Black = 3, White = 1)
  • The three dozen arrows may be shot alone or as the first three dozen of a distance in a longer round.
  • To claim a award,  a witnessed and signed score sheet should be submitted to the club’s Records Officer. Ensure that the distance is shown on the score sheet and make a note on it that you are claiming a distance award. Leave the score sheet in the SCORES box in the kitchen.
