Spelthorne Archers was formed in 1985 by a group of 60 people from another club looking for a more secure ground.
We shot at Spelthorne Sports Club in Ashford Common for 9 years and moved to our present location in Sunbury in 1994 where we have exclusive use of a shooting range.
At this location we have outdoor shooting facilities that are available every day except Mondays, which allows us to shoot all the distances for both imperial and metric rounds.
We also are fortunate to have use of an indoor range during the winter, where we are able to shoot on Sunday afternoons.
We have hosted Regional and County matches and County indoor championships at our venue.
Our match officer often invites other clubs to come and join us for some friendly competition and we also compete in the BA postal league and the MCAA Worcester league.
We hold a number of tournaments throughout the year.
An opening shoot to blow the indoor cobwebs off at Easter time, The George Potts memorial shoot a record status round during the month of June.
A floodlight frostbite shoot during October and also The Spelthorne open Portsmouth indoor shoot in January.
Our membership has ranged from 50-110 members and currently (2018) stands at over 80 members of all ages.
The club caters for beginners and experienced archers alike and we welcome members interested in target archery, using a variety of bow types, from traditional longbows and barebows, to recurve and compound bows.
