Following the news that our home hall would be unusable for 2 weeks we had to find somewhere else to go or miss shooting for 2 weeks. None of us wanted to miss shooting so Quicks at Apps Court very kindly agreed to let us hire their indoor range for our weekly sessions.
Well what can we say it was great! On our first week (07/01/2018) we had 10 archers shooting and we all had our own lane and plenty of room to shoot. We could have easily had 20 archers shoot and still felt comfortable. We all shot a practice Portsmouth with time to spare at the end of the session for extra shooting. Needless to say Mike Parvess yet again set himself a new PB meaning he has set a NEW Club Record. Mike is now on a mission to getting the perfect 600 score after falling short by a couple of points.
Our second week (14/01/2018) saw us shoot our Portsmouth Postal League. Numbers dropped with only 6 people turning up. We had 3 recurve archers and 3 compound archers. Looking at the line we had 3 Right handed Recurve archers and 3 Left handed Compound archers so it was nice seeing them shooting and looking at each other (it’s as if it was planned J). We had just enough archers to make our teams for the shoot and again we finished this with plenty of time.
After a little discussion it was agreed to have a little friendly rival game of Hit or Miss between the Recurve and Compound Archers. Well it was fun to watch and fun was had by all. With the rules set out the Recurve Archers had 2 arrows each and the Compound Archers with 1 arrow each it was the down to play until a team won. First game started it finished on draw 2 all, Second game again finished on a draw 2 all again, so the tension was building on this final game as we were running out of time on our session booking. The game started first couple of arrows were a miss for the recurve team but the compound team hit it went on back and forth and in the end the compound took the win and winning with all 3 of their arrows.
Everyone had great fun and would shoot the game again and planning is in the making. A massive thank you to Quicks for hiring the hall to us and a MASSIVE thank you to those members that turned up both weeks.
